Director K M Chaitanya and the cast of ‘Aake’ made it a point to catch the first day, first show of the movie at Santosh Theatre on K G Road and they say that they couldn’t have asked for a better opening. “I was overwhelmed when someone walked up to me and said that more than the horror aspect, they related to the story and characters in the film. There were a few women who said that the story struck a chord with them,” says Chaitanya, who has worked on this project for over a year.

Chaitanya points out that all the actors in the Kannada film industry promoted the film before its release. “The support from actors and directors in the Kannada film industry contributed to the success of the film. We got more than what we expected,” says Chaitanya. Sharing his experience, Chaitanya, says “I am happy that people are making this their own film. I also noticed that after the first show, there were many women who came to watch the movie.” About working on one film in a year, Chaitanya says that he prefers to take it slow and work on only those projects that excite him. “Earlier, I’ve worked on only one project in a year because I didn’t find the right subject. But now I‘ve started working on another project and have yet another one lined up,” he says.

Actor Sharmiela Mandre, who was complimented for her powerful performance, says that she owes it all to director Chaitanya. “It always makes a huge difference when you watch the film with the audience. The feedback is immediate and it is overwhelming when people tell you how much they loved your performance. The credit for both Chiranjeevi Sarja’s performance and mine go to the director. He moulded us well,” says Sharmiela.
