Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday honoured India's top squash player Joshna Chinappa by appointing her as senior sports officer in Electricity Department.
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami handed over the appointment order to Joshna at the Secretariat. Accordingly, she was given the job in Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation, which comes under Electricity Department.
A government communique said that Joshna has won gold medals in the 2014 Commonwealth games and in Asian championships. She also won several national events.
"With the aim to encourage her future sporting endeavour, the chief minister accepting Joshna's request, directly appointed her as the senior sports officer in TANGEDO", the release said.
