JOIN USBritish-Punjabi girl Soni Kaur just made her Bollywood debut with Suneel Darshan’s film ‘Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha’. She is seen playing the character Rita opposite actor Upen Patel in the recently released film.
Born in a small town in South East London, Soni is also into modelling, which is what got her noticed for the role. In a chat with Anushree Agarwal, the newcomer talks about her debut, modelling and future projects.
How excited are you about your Bollywood debut? What was your role in ‘Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha’?
I was really excited about the film, though things did not work out the way I wanted them to. But still, Bollywood is huge and I am sure there is more to look forward to.
I am playing a British wedding planner in the film and it is an interesting role with a little surprise in the end.
How was it shooting for the movie?
I really enjoyed shooting for the film. There was lots of singing, laughter and great camaraderie among everyone on the sets.
Did you receive any reviews for your work in the film?
Well, my performance has been fair for a newcomer, as overall, the movie hasn’t fared very well.
An actor you‘d love to work with.
I am a big fan of Ranveer Singh and would love to work with him.
We hear you are into modelling. Have you signed any projects in India?
Modelling is going great in London. However, nothing has caught my attention among Indian projects yet.
Your definition of a lazy day...
For me, a lazy day consists of watching an old romantic Bollywood film while munching on chocolate biscuits and cosying up on the sofa.
Your favourite pastimes...
I am a very passionate traveller, with my favourite destinations being Thailand, Italy and India.
A few foods you can‘t resist...
Salted caramel fudge, rich orange chocolate and hummingbird carrot cake.
If not an actor...
If not an actor, I would continue my corporate career as a human resource consultant.
Any future projects in Bollywood?
After a rocky start in Bollywood, I’m still keen on pursuing acting and am presently looking at a few scripts. Everything will be revealed shortly!
