Crime, and all the grime that goes with it, has always excited Sandalwood film-makers. Director Srinivas Raju is revisiting the Dandupalya gang, the notorious criminals whose gory murder and crimes had hit the headlines some years ago, in ‘Dandupalya 2’.

Srinivas who has written the story, screenplay and directed ‘Dandupalya 2’, says that he had gathered so much material when researching for ‘Dandupalya’ says he couldn’t finish the story in just one part. “The first part focussed on the activities of the gang on the surface level. The second part delves into the modus operandi and the conclusion will be in the final part which will release in the first week of August,” says Srinivas. Elaborating on the making of the film, Srinivas says, “If the first part focussed on the crimes committed by the gang, the second part has no blood shed but delves into the psychology and is based on melodrama.” The movie explores the innocence of the gang and how they turned victims.

“The second part also unravels the reasons behind why the crimes were committed,” he adds. The movie has been shot in and around Bengaluru and a few villages in Kolar. Srinivas informs that the film has data that he has collected after a three-year interaction with the members of the Dandupalya gang, police and other criminals involved in the crimes.
