Inputs about Abu Dujana’s visit to meet his wife and technical surveillance helped security forces kill the Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist, who had on at least five occasions given them a slip.

Sources claimed that the intelligence agencies had managed to trace a pattern of the visits of Dujana, who is described as A++ militant by the forces, and this time even got inputs from a police source.

Dujana, along with his associate Arif Nabi Dar, was hiding in a house in Hakripora village in Pulwama when senior officials received inputs about his presence. After receiving the info post midnight, security personnel were posted near the house to track his movement.

Sources said they also had the support of a technical surveillance team to locate Dujana. By 4.30 am, the personnel surrounded the village while efforts started to evacuate civilians from nearby houses.

Dujana was hiding in a locality which was densely populated and sources said it was necessary for them to ensure that there is no collateral damage.

As the forces got closer to the house, sources said, the terrorists started firing. The personnel then returned the fire before blowing up the house.

Sources said before blowing up the house, the security personnel had rescued six civilians inside the house after providing cover fire.

While the forces took on the two terrorists inside the house, scores of civilian protesters gathered at the spot and pelted stones at the personnel. Sources claimed armed terrorists were in the crowd and they began firing at the personnel.

It is also claimed that Dujana told the inmates of the house where he was hiding that he hailed from Karachi.

Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju praised the forces for killing Dujana.
