The Muzrai department has withdrawn the order on adoption of Sri Rama Vidya Kendra in Kalladka and Sri Devi Vidya Kendra at Punacha in Bantwal taluks by the Kollur Mookambika Temple.

The order was passed by Revenue department (Muzrai) under secretary B S Nagarathnamma on July 31. The order on Kollur Mookambika Temple adopting these two institutions by the Muzrai department was passed during the previous BJP government’s tenure on June 20, 2007. Accordingly, the temple had given Rs 2.32 crore to Sri Rama Vidya Kendra and Rs 50.72 lakh to Sridevi Vidya Kendra from 2007 to 2016.

A report from the department said that the Mookambika Temple had spent Rs 2.83 crore towards the expenditure of these two educational institutions. However, as per the rules of Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act, 1997 and 2002, the temples coming under Muzrai department can not adopt private educational institutions. Adopting and maintaining private educational institutions were a financial burden on the temples.

Hence, department commissioner had submitted a proposal to withdraw the adoption of these institutions. After verifying the proposal, the department has withdrawn the adoption order of June 20, 2007, with immediate affect.
RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat is the convener of Sri Rama Vidya Kendra in Kalladka.
