The indefinite stir being staged by Kasturi Karnataka Janapara Vedike in Maddur entered the 33rd day, on Tuesday. Extending support to their protest, hundreds of JD(S) workers took out a bicycle rally, led by JD(S) state youth wing president Madhu Bangarappa, and MLA D C Thammanna.

Madhu Bangarappa said, “The Cauvery River water-sharing issue has been left unsolved since the British rule. While the Centre has not shown any inclination to resolve the issue, the state government has totally neglected the farmers of the Cauvery basin.”

He pointed out that during the tenure of his father S Bangarappa as chief minister, he had opposed the Supreme Court's judgement and did not release water to Tamil Nadu, bailing out the farmers from the crisis.

Vedike president Rameshgowda said, if the Chief Minister's decision is against the interests of farmers during the meeting scheduled to be held at the CM’s residence, the legislators and elected representatives of the region should stage a protest in front of the CM’s house.
MLA D C Thammanna assured that the people's representatives in unison will demand release of water into the canals.
Earlier, JD(S) workers formed a human chain on the Mysuru-Bengaluru highway at T B Circle for more than half an hour, resulting in disruption of vehicular traffic.
