<p>The University Grants Commission has asked all varsities to organise a pledge-taking ceremony on August 9 to “actualise” Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “endeavour” to have a terrorism-free, caste-free, corruption-free, uncleanness-free and poverty-free society in India.<br />The pledge-taking ceremony will also mark the 75th year of the ‘Quit India Movement’ launched by Mahatma Gandhi against the Imperial Rule on August 9 in 1942.<br /><br />This comes after the prime minister recently gave call for expelling “filth, corruption, terrorism, casteism and communalism” from India.<br /><br />The prime minister also appealed to the people to work towards achieving this with similar resolve.<br /><br /></p>
