Last Updated 22 August 2017, 18:49 IST
They are young, peppy and energetic. The musical duo, Sayan and Zephyr, popularly known as ‘Zephyrtone’ are best known for creating pop sounds with soft lyrics and videos.

The Pune-based electronic duo will be performing at Big Brewsky on Saturday as part of ‘Wicked Weekends’, a property that promotes the concept of a new musical gig/party in a new city across the country every weekend.

Sayan and Zephyr grew up listening to pop, RnB, alternative rock and hiphop music, the genres that have highly influenced them to create the kind of music that they do.

In a chat with Anila Kurian, they talk about their music and how they are excited to visit Bengaluru.

When did the two of you meet and how did ‘Zephyrtone’ come about?

Zephyr: We’ve always known each other as we are childhood friends. ‘Zephyr’ means ‘cool breeze by the sea shore’ and the music we make is soothing and perfect for any occasion.

Sayan: We feel our music stands true to what the word means. That’s how ‘Zephyrtone’ came about.

So what makes your duo stand out in the scene?

Sayan: Many EDM producers struggle to find a vocalist but here, we make our own music. We work
well as a team as we understand each other quite well.

Is there anything about each other that you don’t like?

Zephyr: Not at all actually. We never fight with each other or get annoyed.
Sayan: We love to eat, listen to music and travel; we really can’t think of anything that would irritate us.

Since you both have similar interests, which artistes do you like jamming to?

Zephyr: We love ‘Coldplay’, ‘Avicii’ and ‘The Chainsmokers’.

You are busy touring right now...

Sayan: Yes, but we keep ourselves busy with our new music whenever we have free time. We have two new tracks coming up and the related music videos.
Zephyr: We’re also looking forward to new collaborations with other artistes.

So when was the last time you took a break?

Zephyr: We took a two-month break in April actually.
Sayan: The season for artistes begins in October and goes on till April, and when that happens, we’ll be busy every weekend. So we’re trying to finish our work before the rush starts.

How excited are you to come to Bengaluru this weekend?

Sayan: We love Bengaluru; it’s one of our favourite cities to come for a gig.Zephyr: The crowd is very responsive and they never get tired. We hope to raise the bar this time.

What is your long-term goal?

Zephyr: We want to go international and perform on big stages like ‘Tomorrowland’.
Sayan: We want to be consistent with our music and continue producing good numbers.
