Defence minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday inaugurated an Academy for Excellence and two testing facilities — EMC Test facility and Near Field Antenna Test Range (NFTR) at the Bengaluru Unit of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), DHNS reports from Bengaluru.
Academy of Excellence, built at a cost of Rs 47 crore, is envisaged to address the training needs of BEL employees, customers and vendors/partners, especially MSMEs/SMEs. The EMC test facility is set up at a cost of Rs 60 crore and will be used to conduct system level electro magnetic compatibility tests for strategic defence systems like battle tanks. The NFTR facility, set up at a cost of Rs 30 crore, will help calibrate and test next generation radars with AESA-based antenna arrays, the company said in a statement.
