In his maiden speech Chiranjeevi who spoke after a spell of pandemonium in the House following some remarks made by senior TDP member Ashok Gajapati Raju, urged fellow members not to waste time by focusing on trivial issues.

He reminded fellow MLAs that people were watching their actions in the House and that they should behave not like unruly school children but as responsible people’s representatives.

Congratulating Kiran Kumar Reddy on his unanimous election as the Speaker, Chiranjeevi said he knew that Reddy was a Ranji cricketer “but I don’t know if you were a bowler or a batsman,” he said. When Congress legislators informed him that Reddy was a wicket-keeper, he asked him to be more like an umpire without taking sides.
He however wanted more time to be allotted to the Opposition since they raise more issues of the people.
