DK police foil murder, kidnap bid

The criminals were planning to kill a city-based advocate and kidnap a jeweller for ransom, police said.

Addressing a press meet IGP (Western Range) Gopal Hosur said, the arrested are Abdul Nazeer alias Sajji (34) of Harekala in Mangalore; Narayana Salian (46), Madoor; Mohammed Faisal Ibrahim Sheikh (28), Mumbai; Rohan Firozkhan (21), Mumbai; Mangesh Aravind Kule (21), Chembur in Maharashtra’ Lokesh Amin (25), Jokatte in Mangalore; Abhishek Amin (24), Bikarnakatte; Abdul Naseer (26), Shantibhag; Abdul Hakim (33), Madani Nagara; Abdul Azeez (25), Madani Nagara; Sameer Hamsa (25), Shanthibhag and Mohammed Jamaluddin (29), Ajjinadka in Kotekar.

Police have seized two cars, .9 mm pistol, 10 rounds of ammunition, two magazines, and mobile phones.  Hosur said the accused could not carry out their plan as the advocate was not found in his office. It was an attempt to avenge the death of advocate Naushad Kashimji, who was murdered last year. The accused were also planning to kidnap the owner of Rajdhani Jewellery for a ransom of nearly Rs 30 lakh. IGP Gopal Hosur honoured the SP Squad team with a reward of Rs 20,000.
