C'magalur jail will henceforth only be a memory

It was said that all the freedom fighters were housed in the jail during freedom movement. In fact, the first CM of Karnataka K C Reddy was also kept in the same jail during freedom movement. On the direction of DC, the 115-year-old jail building was evicted by PWD. As a continuation of the eviction drive, the veterinary department building was also evicted on Saturday.

Even CMC officials are getting ready to evict their building on the road to facilitate the road widening work. Trees which had grown inside the compound of the government offices were also felled. Even a temple near Dantaramakki kere also comes under the perview of the road widening. The temple authorities have already held talks with CMC and have agreed for eviction.
