JD(S) president H D Deve Gowda on Monday said his party will fight the coming Assembly elections under collective leadership.

Speaking after inaugurating a Gandhi Jayanti programme at the party office here, he said the JD(S) will not have an alliance with any party in the elections. The JD(S) will form the government if it gets the majority. Otherwise, the party will sit in the Opposition benches, he added.

He accused the Congress government in the state and the BJP-led government at the Centre of misusing taxpayers’ money for publicity.

These governments are spending huge sums of money to market themselves.

Both of them have not done anything for the welfare of people. It is difficult for a regional party like the JD(S) to compete with these national parties as far as spending money is concerned, he added.

Meanwhile, JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy, who underwent valve-replacement surgery recently, was discharged from the Apollo hospital here on Monday. The doctors have advised him rest for the next 25 days.
