Man held for sneaking into women's flat

A 25-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday for sneaking into a neighbouring house where four women were staying.

Murali alias Gym Murali sneaked into the first-floor house at Hoodi, Whitefield, purportedly to peep into the bathroom or sexually harass the women. Police are interrogating him to ascertain his motive. The women told the police he is a total stranger.

They saw Murali in their house last week and raised an alarm. Murali jumped down and disappeared into the dark. His movements were, however, captured by a CCTV camera installed in the building.

The women later filed a complaint with the jurisdictional Mahadevapura police who conducted an enquiry and arrested Murali. They booked him for assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty under section 354 of the IPC. A magistrate has remanded him in judicial custody. Murali told the police he is associated with a pro-Kannada organisation.
