Bring out the talent of children: Prameela

Taluk Panchayat President Prameela Naik advised parents and teachers in the district, to recognise the hidden talent among students and children, and help them to bring it out.

She noted this while speaking after inaugurating the District Level Talent Award Competitions and Art Festival, jointly organised by Zilla Panchayat and Public Instruction Department at Bal Mandir in city on Friday.

Teachers are the good guiders to students, as they play vital role to shape the career of future citizens, she added.

Talent award

Speaking on occasion Deputy Director of Public Instruction P K Prakash stated that, earlier, the talent award competitions were held in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala states. Since 2002, the public instruction department has started talent award competitions in state, providing a platform for students, to prove their talent, he added.

The talent award competitions play important role to protect the vast diversity of Indian culture, which includes tribe, folk and traditional arts, he pointed.

The competitions will be held in four different categories, namely, Dance, Drama, Music and Performing Arts, for Juniors, Seniors and High School students. As many as 750 students will participate in various competitions, which will held in 31 rooms and on five main stages. Near about 125 judges will take part.

The participants, teachers, organisers and guests observed a moment silence to pay respect to late yakshagana legendary Chittani Ramachandra Hegde.

Zilla Panchayat member Chaitra Kotharkar, City Muncipal Council President Ganpati Naik, Taluk Panchayat Standing Committee President Purushottam Gowda, Block Education Officer Ramakrishna Nayak and others were present.
