Last Updated 14 October 2017, 13:35 IST
The Station Access and Mobility Program (STAMP) launched the last mile connectivity services for Baiyappanahalli and SV Road Metro Stations on Saturday. The STAMP is a collaborative initiative of the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation, the World Resources Institute, India, the Toyota Mobility Foundation and the Bangalore Political Action Committee.

The connectivity services are mobile applications that won the STAMP Challenge 2017,  a challenge for seeking solutions to improve connectivity to and from metro stations.

The services were inaugurated by Pradeep Singh Kharola, managing director of BMRCL. The services launched include 5 mobile applications for improving public transport accessibility at major metro stations. The applications include Quick Ride, Metro Bikes, Tap route, Costa park and CiFoS (citizens for sustainability). The initiative will also support and help further extend the reach of feeder networks provided by the BMTC.

Quick Ride is a carpooling app and rides sharing application that enables the user to carpool with another user. The services will be available from the metro station. With the help of Metro Bike app, the user can rent a two-wheeler for one-way from the identified touch points. the user can drop the bike in the same place or anywhere across the city and will only have to pay for the distance and time used.

With the help of tap route application, the user can book an auto from his residence to the metro station and from the metro station to his required destination in one go. The pre-booked auto will be waiting for the user at the metro station. Constapark is an app with the help of which the user can park his vehicle at major metro stations.

CiFoS has developed a mobile app to determine the service levels at Metro stations. 'This is a great example of collaboration through a public-private partnership and young innovators that help in facilitating the ease of commute for the metro user," said Kharola about the last mile services.
