Eight arrested, 36 kg ganja seized

The Whitefield division police arrested eight people who were selling ganja to software engineers, college students and construction workers.

The arrested have been identified as M Ravi (38), Ahmed Khan (60), both from Kolar; Gagan Kumar (21) from Odisha, Bijay Naik (30), Kumar Biswas (34), both from West Bengal; Nithesh (40), Imran (36), both from Yelahanka, and Anil Kumar (25) from Yeshwantpur, according to the police. Police have seized 36 kgs of ganja from them.

The police said, “Ravi and Ahmed used to supply ganja and leave the city. The
other six suspects used to distribute it to others in  the city by staying in a rented house. They were selling ganja in Marathahalli, Kadugodi, KR Puram, Whitefield and HAL police station limits. They were getting ganja from Assam, Bihar, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh and selling it here in small quantities for Rs 100 to Rs 200.

Their customers were software engineers, colleges students and construction workers.”

Ganja harvest

The KR Puram police said, “Biswas was staying in a rented house in Seegehalli near KR Puram. He harvested ganja in the open space near his house three months back.

“He had also fenced the area. After getting information about the plants, we raided the premises and arrested him,” police said.
