<div align="justify">The Indian Railways has announced a new timetable for 700 long-distance trains and a few local trains in all of its zones with effect from November 1.<br /><br />As per the new timetable, several trains’ arrival and departure schedule and train numbers have been changed.<br /><br />Sixty-five express/mail trains have been upgraded to superfast trains.<br /><br />Besides, time of halts of several trains at railway stations will be reduced depending on the passenger footfall.<br /><br />The travel time for a number of trains have been cut down between 19 minutes and three hours by reducing the halt time or engine changing time, said an official of the railway ministry.<br /><br />Fifty-one express and 36 passenger trains running under the Southern Railway will be speeded up.<br /><br />However, the Election Commission has barred the Railways from giving publicity to the new timetables due to the code of conduct in force for the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh <br />Assembly elections.</div>
