Last Updated 04 November 2017, 19:53 IST

Block Education Officer M R Kamakshi suggested that parents identify the hidden talents among their children and create conducive atmosphere for them to bloom.

She was speaking at the inauguration of 'Weekend Workshops' organised jointly by the Balabhavan Society, Zilla Balabhavan Sangha, Women and Child Development department and the department of Public Instruction on Saturday.

She said both the Women and Child Development department and the department of Public Instruction will work in tandem for the betterment of children. "The rich people get their children trained in music and dance through special coaching. But many a time, poor children studying at government schools lack these facilities. The workshops like these provide them a platform to bring to the fore their hidden talents."

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer K G Shantharam rued that not many programmes dedicated to children were being organised. "But there are a few government programmes for the children. Parents and children should make use of them."

Balabhavan Society member M Basavaiah said the weekend workshops will have painting, dance and music classes, and suggested that parents bring their children to the workshops held on Saturdays and Sundays and groom their talents.
