Steps taken to ensure there are no power cuts: D K Shivakumar

Energy Minister D K Shivakumar  on Friday  assured the Legislative Assembly that the state government has taken sufficient steps to ensure that there are no power cuts in the coming months.

Replying to Aihole Duryodhan Mahalingappa (BJP), Shivakumar said measures are being put in place to ensure that the supply of power meets the demand. He said that at present three-phase power is being supplied to irrigation pump sets for seven hours a day and the quantum will continue. The power subsidy to farmers was costing the government Rs 9,400 crore per annum. Shivakumar said 43 more taluks have been identified for setting up 20 MW solar power plants taking the total number of 146 taluks.
