"As the Foreign Trade Policy 2015-2020 is under mid-term review, more incentives related to ease of doing business and exports are expected to be announced shortly," said foreign trade development officer P S B Shastri of Deputy Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DDGFT) in Belagavi.

Speaking at 'Niryat Bandhu' seminar for exporters held at the Karnatak Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) hall at J C Nagar here on Thursday, he stated that the DDGFT office started in Belagavi in April is issuing foreign trade licenses and extending other help to the businessmen in five districts of the region, and it has adapted digital initiatives under the e-governance.

There are separate export schemes for manufacturing and service sector. Many exporters do not avail the benefits of incentives. They can get incentives for exports to any country, he noted.

Mr Sastri also gave tips about setting up export business, finance, pricing, sampling, quality control, negotiation, delivery, payment, export contract, statutory certificates, customs process, documentation and other procedures related to exports.

Later, he interacted with exporters and other businessmen.

Earlier, KCCI President Ramesh Patil noted that exports are very essential for a healthy economy, and therefore, governments are promoting exports. Businessmen in Tier 2 cities have also entered foreign trade, and there is more potential which has to be tapped, he said.

Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre (VTPC) manager Padmanabh, KCCI office-bearers S G Kammar, Vinay Javali, and others were present.
