The much-awaited Deccan Herald Theatre Festival is here and it begins with a stellar performance by the city's best known thespian Arundhati Nag, playing the central character in the German play 'Mother Courage and her children'.
The play by Bertolt Brecht about a woman who tried to profit from a war is considered one of the greatest anti-war dramas of all time. Expect lavish productions for the show in Chowdiah Memorial Hall on Sunday. It is produced by Mumbai-based theatre group QTP.

This year's festival is curated by Sandbox Collective and features different themes and genres.

Vandana Prabhu's 'A Little Calm Before the Storm' is scheduled for December 5 at Ranga Shankara. The German play written by Theresia Walser is about three characters in a green room who get talking as they wait to play the role of Hitler on stage.

On December 8, catch Prashanth Nair's 'A Funny Thing Called Life' at the Goethe Institut Max Mueller Bhavan. The humorous play about everyday life is made up of six vignettes and is produced by Tahatto.

After hits like 'Lucia' and 'U-turn', director Pawan Kumar will now present his play 'The Woman in Me'. The story about a man who confronts his feminine side in a mirror will be staged on December 9 at the MLR Convention Centre.

Get nostalgic about Namma Bengaluru as you watch 'Boiled Beans on Toast' tell the story of the city's transformation through the lives of its citizens. The play written by Girish Karnad and directed by Prakash Belawadi will be staged at the Good Shepherd auditorium on December 10.

Students of St Joseph's College of Commerce, Mount Carmel college, and Christ will be performing at the DH Inter-Collegiate Theatre Fest on December 4 at Alliance Francaise.
