In order to make footpaths more pedestrian friendly, residents of Sanjaynagar are set to launch a campaign 'Adjust Beda, Footpath Beku' on December 10.

"We want to make footpaths accessible to people belonging to all age groups, be it an eight-year-old or an 80-year-old person," said Vignan Gowda, a resident of Sanjaynagar.

Along with a carriageway, citizens are also demanding a dedicated vendor zones and parking space.

"We have all the support from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike officials, especially from Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad along with the local MLA. We have even received Rs 7 crore from the government for the project," Gowda said.

However, there are some commercial establishments which are against the project.

"These establishments think that they will lose business if the footpaths are widened. However, this campaign is only to request them to join hands with us for a better cause," he said.
