Last Updated 11 December 2017, 16:04 IST

Bengaluru: The Cabinet, on Monday, decided not to initiate any further action against three KASofficers facing complaints of committing irregularities in the implementation of the crop loss compensation scheme.

The complaints against KASofficers - Anithalakshmi, BAJagadish and MThippeswamy - had been referred to the Upalokayukta for its opinion. Briefing reporters after the meeting, Law Minister TBJayachandra said it was found that the officers had not violated any rules.

However, when reporters sought details on the content and recommendations in the Upalokayukta report, the minister fumbled for answers.

The minister had said that whenAnithalakshmi was assistant commissioner of Madhugiri, as many of 44 of the 337 cheques amounting to Rs 3.19 lakh for crop compensation had not been honoured and there was also duplication of beneficiaries. When reporters asked when that was the case, how could the cabinet give the officer a clean chit, Jayachandra summoned DPARprincipalsecretary Anil Kumar Jha to the media room. Jha did not clarify anything. Jayachandra sought two days' time to study the files and clarify all doubts.
