Plea against non-sporting events at Kanteerava

The  Cubbon Park Walkers Association has filed a complaint with the Lokayukta against allowing non-sporting events in the Kanteerava Stadium.

The complaint stated that the authority responsible for maintaining the stadium is giving permission for private events at the stadium.

Recently, a Mathsya Mela was organised at the stadium complex. The association president S Umesh said, "Such events will not only deny access to sportspersons and walkers  but will also strain the infrastructure. The Association will also approach the court and obtain appropriate orders if the government continues to allow commercial events in the stadium."

The complaint stated that the Kanteerava Stadium is government property and has to be used exclusively for sports events.
