Last Updated 05 January 2018, 11:37 IST

Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Friday said that there is no proposal before the state government seeking ban on the Popular Front of India (PFI) and other organisations.

Speaking to reporters during a brief stopover at Gaddanakeri Cross en route to Mudhol in the district, the Home minister said, "The BJP leaders are indulging in opportunistic politics. The BJP pressure the government to ban PFI on the other hand the party has struck deals with PFI-backed members to hold the power in several gram panchayats in Dakshina Kannada district."

The crime rate was high when the BJP was in power in the state. The Congress government has brought down the crime rate, he said adding that the Congress, under Siddaramaiah's leadership, will win majority in 2018 Assembly polls and retain power in the state.
