A remake of R Velraaju's 2014 Tamil movie Velaiilla Pattadhari, popularly known by the abridged moniker VIP, Brihaspathi is another star vehicle to promote actor-director-producer Ravichandran's son Manoranjan.

The film, an unabashed potboiler and a faithful copy of the Tamil flick, is suitably adapted to the local milieu with a slight tweak to the tale.

It focuses on Sudhir, a jobless graduate who believes in a job that goes with his educational background, and refuses anything less than that. His rather inflexible attitude, despite parental pressures to take up an alternative employment, comes in conflict with his father who deems him irresponsible.

Meantime, he also falls in love. The lass initially spurns him but reciprocates later.

The rest of the film is about the struggles he undergoes as an unemployed youth, and the challenges he confronts when he finally lands one.

Manoranjan, who debuted with Saheba, has gone for an image makeover here with regular fights and thundering dialogues, hoping it will work with his fan base. There is also a song that he is Ravichandran's son, besides references to his father's movies.

Brihaspathi, as a relaunch vehicle, is a rather tame film without much promise.

The rest of the cast also has nothing much to offer. Director Nanda Kishore shows no newness, nor does the film's music score.
