Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Friday said there is no proposal before the government seeking a ban on PFI and other organisations.

Speaking to reporters during a brief stopover at Gaddanakeri Cross en route to Mudhol in Bagalkot for a private function, he said, "The BJP leaders are indulging in opportunistic politics. The BJP pressures the government to ban the PFI. On the other hand, the party has struck deals with PFI-backed members to hold the power in several gram panchayats in Dakshina Kannada district."

Taking serious exception to Reddy's statement about the nexus between BJP and the PFI, BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa challenged Reddy to prove his charges in 24 hours. Speaking to reporters in Ballari, Yeddyurappa dismissing the allegations that three BJP Minorities Morcha leaders were involved in the murder of BJP worker Deepak Rao and said the charges are false, and politically motivated.
