He took a jolly ride in a stolen Mercedes

  He abandoned the car at a secluded place on Kamaraj Road here on Tuesday evening.
According to the police, a man aged between 35 and 40, had sneaked into Sundaram Motors on Kasthurba Road on April 10. After a while, he covertly occupied the driver’s seat of a Mercedez Benz E 250 car when the security guards opened the gates for taking out another vehicle. While they were still pulling out that car, the thief put on the luxurious car's accelerator and drove it off leaving the security guards perplexed.

The stunned owner of the showroom immediately approached the police and lodged a complaint. The Cubbon Park police did little to recover the vehicle apart from guessing that it might have been taken to Kerala or Chennai until it was found abandoned on Kamaraj Road.

The unknown clever shark, however, did deflate a tyre before abandoning the vehicle around 10 pm on Tuesday. There was no other damage to the car. The police will hand it over to the showroom once they receive an order from the court.
