Student suicide: BJP Yuva Morcha leader arrested

With the suicide case of a college student taking a new twist, the police have booked cases against five people and arrested BJP Yuva Morcha's town president M V Anil on Sunday.

It is said that on the day Dhanyasri committed suicide, the five suspects had been to her house and had objected for her friendship with a boy from another community. They had allegedly harassed Dhanyasri in front of her mother. A message in this regard that had gone viral in social media was received by Dhanyasri as well. Saddened by it, she has committed suicide, it is learnt.

The police produced the suspects to the court which later remanded him in judicial custody till January 22.

In a complaint, Dhanyasri's father Yadav Suvarna had said that he had taken away her mobilephone as her examinationss were nearing. Dejected, she has ended her life, he has said in the complaint.  

Based on a death note received by the police, the police have filed case against five for abetting suicide.

Meanwhile, SP K Annamalai said in Chikkamagaluru that the police have received a death note of Dhanyasri. The note makes a mention on harassment and threat for her and her mother from the members of a few organisations.

Dhanyasri and the Muslim boy's photographs were posted in social media by a few miscreants. The photographs have also been sent to Dhanyasri as well. The police are making a list of those who posted the photographs in the social media. "The police have considered the case seriously. We will arrest all those who had threatened and posted photos of Dhanyasri," he added.

A case has been registered under IPC Section 306.
