Gaining acceptance

Vadakkan Veettil Kochukunju is a yob who yells, picks a fight with rivals and overpowers them hands down. He even enters into fisticuffs with cops to show them what is right! But the protagonist Prithviraj’s sophisticated mannerisms look no match for this rough ‘n’ tough role.

At Vadakkan veedu, Kochukunju is persona non grata for his maternal uncles who live an esteemed life there with their families. He even runs away from home in his teens only to return empty-handed, decades later. His mother (Ambika) lives with the tearful memory of her husband she thinks is dead. All her efforts to refine Kochukunju, her only hope now, go awry.

Halfway through the film, Kochukunju turns up in a ritzy car. He has another side to his life and he is no more the man looked down upon.
