With the Supreme Court verdict on the Cauvery River water sharing dispute to be announced on February 5, a high-level meeting was held at Krishanaraja Sagar (KRS) in the taluk on Monday.
The meeting was presided over by SP G Radhika, attended by Cauvery Neeravari Nigam officials and the Chief of the Central Industrial Security Force.
The meeting held discussions on stepping up security measures at the dam and surrounding areas in case the situation turns volatile after the announcement of the verdict.
Speaking to DH, an official, who attended the meeting, said that additional police personnel from other districts would be deployed at the dam and security would be beefed up.
With just a few months away for the Assembly polls, the verdict has created a lot of curiosity. In case the verdict goes against the state, the agitation would be intensified in Mysuru and Mandya region. The political parties too might try to take advantage of the situation. But it is the farmers, who are more anxious about the Cauvery verdict.
DySP Vishwanath, CPI Ravindra, Internal Security division DySP Viswanath, and Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Superintending Engineer Vijaykumar attended the meeting.
