A 75-year-old housekeeping staff of a government school was found bludgeoned to death in the school premises in Hegganahalli near Rajagopanagar  on Monday  night.

The incident came to light  on Tuesday morning when the school reopened and the school staff found the body lying in a pool of blood. They alerted the police immediately.

The reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.

The deceased was identified as Babusab. He had been working at the school for the last few years.

The police said that the victim's family lived in Laggere.

On the day of the incident, he was sleeping in a room in the school. He reportedly moved to another room later in the night where another staff, Sampath Kumar, was asleep.

The murderer had strangled Babusab with a rope before smashing his head with a boulder.

Meanwhile, the other staff, Kumar is reportedly untraceable since the incident.

The police are investigating for details about Kumar from the school and the principal.
