A nine-year-old boy was burnt alive in an accidental in a field at Kuruvinkoppa, Kalghatgi taluk on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Chandan Sahadevappa Sangolli.
It is said Chandan, who was partially disabled, was playing with toys along with other children near the haystack in the field. An accidental fire broke out in the haystack.
On spotting the fire, the children started running helter-skelter. Chandan could not run and was caught in the fire.
On getting information, fire fighters rushed to the spot to rescue Chandan. However, all their efforts went in vain. A case has been registered at Kalghatgi rural police station and investigation is on.
