Khadir Sab, attached to 51st Battalion of the BSF, had come to his hometown Bijapur on leave. He was arrested while trying to sell an unlicensed 9 mm pistol and six cartridges worth Rs 40,000 near Shamnur, the police said.
Addressing the media, SP Sandip Patil said police have contacted the BSF and are investigating to ascertain more details about Khadir. It is yet to be known whether Khadir had been into illegal arms trade for a long time and whether he had sold BSF weapons earlier.
The SP said there had been no indication so far on Khadir’s link with any terrorist outfits.
