Theatre Tatkaal is presenting a Kannada play 'Kola', directed by actor Achutha Kumar on March 28 and 29 at 7.30 pm and April 1 at 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm at Rangashankara.

'Kola' ('Magna Talyakathi' in Marathi) is the second part in the Wada triology, written by Mahesh Elkunchwar.

'Magna Talyakathi' is a poignantly written family drama with its roots in the first part, 'Wada Chirebandi'. However, watching 'Magna Talyakathi' as an independent entity is sure to take one through a mesmerising theatrical experience.

Set in rural Vidharbha, the play talks about relationships, aspirations, joys, sorrows, anger, insecurity and other human emotions which people of all age groups will be able to connect to.

Sharing his experience of working on the play, the director Achutha Kumar, says, "Kola' traces the story of three generations. It looks at how people from the older generation adapt to the ways of the new generation. The contrasts and conflicts are captured and portrayed in an effective way. The situations shown in the story are relevant to any generation because every generation thinks in a different way."

He points out that the play also throws light on the lives of young people who live away from home but prefer to stay connected to their roots.

Sharing his experience of venturing into direction, Achutha, says that he
does not set a target for himself when it comes to direction.

"I direct a play only when I feel strongly about the subject. I want all my directorials in theatre to offer a good experience," he adds.

The cast of the play comprises actors Shivaprasad, Shailashree, Teju Belawadi, Apeksha Ghaligi, Kiran Naik, Kali Prasad, BV Shrunga, Niveditha, Nandini Patawardhan and Sharada GS.

The members of the technical team include Gopalakrishna Deshpande (associate director), design by Channakeshava, lighting and design by Raghu Shivamogga, sound and design by Veersh and set designing has been worked upon by Raghu Sirsi.

The second part 'Magna Talyakathi' (Kola in Kannada) has been translated into Kannada by Nandini KR and Prashanth.

The tickets are price at Rs 150.
