National-level moot court contest from tomorrow

Vaikunta Baliga Law College in Udupi will be organising Late P Shivaji Shetty memorial national level moot court competitions from April 6 to 8 at its college premises. The topic of the competition is 'Conditions and Restrictions for Surrogacy'.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, principal of Vaikunta Baliga Law college Prof Prakash Kanive said that the three-day moot court competitions will witness serious activities, and quiz competitions in all sections. Along with a workshop on writing verdict, there is also a competition held on the same. As many as 28 law colleges will be participating from Karnataka, Dehradun, Chennai, Vijayawada, Kerala and Mumbai. Around 12 student teams are taking part and 42 well-known advocates will be part of the jury.

Law and Human Rights department special secretary H K Jagadish will inaugurate the competition on April 6. The valedictory ceremony would be graced by the Ernakulam High Court Judge Justice Devan Ramachandran, and retired high court judge Justice A V Chandrashekhar, he added.
