Gusty winds damage arecanut, rubber trees

Hundreds of arecanut, coconut and rubber trees were damaged, following gusty winds that lashed Perabe and Kunthoor in Kadaba on Tuesday evening.

Several electricity poles and wires have been damaged at Athrijalu, Mapala, Arbi, Nellijalu in Perabe. As a result, power supply was disrupted in the villages. The uprooting of trees has affected the movement of vehicles at Mapala and Arbi villages.

Arecanut, coconut and rubbers trees, belonging to Gopalakrishna, Vishwanath Rai, Narayana Shetty, Annu Shetty, Shantaram Shetty, were uprooted.

The asbestos sheet of a house belonging to K P Thomas was damaged in Agathady of Perabe. As a result, TV, furniture and electric wires were also damaged. The asbestos sheet of the toilet of Mar Ivanios English Medium School flew away in the gusty wind.
