Last Updated 11 April 2018, 20:09 IST

Despite the Congress high command suggesting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to contest from Badami Assembly seat in Bagalkot district, the party's sitting MLA from the constituency B B Chimmanakatti on Wednesday expressed his keenness to seek re-election.

Chimmanakatti, a former minister, met senior leaders and expressed his inclination to contest from his home seat.

Earlier, the party suggested Siddarammaiah to contest from Badami as it plan to deny the ticket to Chimmanakatti due to his ill health.

Though Siddaramaiah is keen to contest from Chamundeshwari, the party has suggested him entery the poll fray Badami as the constituency has a large number of Kuruba community voters, the caste to which Siddaramaiah belongs.
