Kundapur BJP candidate Haladi Srinivas Shetty expressed confidence about winning in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, the former MLA said that he has worked for the people in the constituency and there is no need for him to display and promote himself. "The voters know and voters will choose him given the option against any candidate irrespective of the party," he said. He added that the dissidence in the party will not affect him, however, it might have some amount of impact on the poll results. However, it seems insignificant, he said.

He assured that the dissidence would be overcome in the days to come. As Kishore Kumar and his team are in BJP, they should campaign for him and the party, he said. Many members who supported Kishore Kumar in the last Assembly elections are now supporting him, he said.

He said he had won elections even while contesting as an independent candidate. Hence, there is no doubt about his capabilities and winning probabilities, he added.

He added that he and his political mentor A G Kodgi had differences and differences are part of life for any politician. "It exists at all levels. However, the differences with Kodgi is not major," he said.

He added that he has approached the veteran and has sought his blessings at the latter's home. He said he has informed him about his candidature. Kodgi has wished him good luck, Shetty said.
