JOIN USA team of officials led by assistant commissioner Gargi Jain, on Sunday, raided the office of MLA Anand Singh, over violation of the model code of conduct.
The police, on the instruction of Gargi, made Congress party workers go out of the place. They then seized the books, furniture and speakers from the place, before locking the ground and first floors of the premises.
Reacting to the development, Singh said they were not holding the meeting by displaying the party symbol. He said some of the participants had come to get their grievances redressed. He said it was not an election-related event. But the officer was in no mood to listen.
The AC later directed that the police should register an FIR over the matter and send her a copy of it.
She said the programme was not permitted as requested, since it is within a 200-km radius of a school, in violation of the rules.
