The second phase of polling is being held to elect 44,417 gram panchayat members.
Of these, elections in 3,724 places have been declared unopposed. In about 123 gram panchayats, nobody has filed nomination papers, according to State Election Commission officials.
District-wise break up of candidates in fray: Chamarajnagar - 5,399, Hassan - 8,643, Kodagu - 3,280, Chikmagalur - 6,237, Dakshina Kannada, 7,500, Udupi - 1,669, Belgaum - 20,409, Bijapur - 8,912, Bagalkot - 6,516, Dharawad - 5,405, Gadag - 4,409, Haveri - 7,412, Uttara Kannada - 7,478, Mandya, 9,005. The SEC is yet to receive information on the number of candidates in the fray in Mysore district.
