Liquor seized

Soladevanahalli police on Wednesday night raided a venue near Raghavendradhama Muneshwaraswamy temple and seized 198 packets containing liquor.

The police acted on a tip off that some persons had stored the liquor packets to be used during campaigning for the upcoming Assembly polls.

The police registered cases under Section 30 of the Karnataka Excise Act.
A total of 12 such cases have been registered in the North Division.

Kerosene seized

The Mahalakshmi Layout police arrested an auto rickshaw driver and recovered seven barrels containing 1,300 litres of kerosene meant for distribution among poor residents through the public distribution system.

The suspect was identified as Ayaz Pasha, 37, a resident of third main road, Nandini Layout.

The police also recovered his auto rickshaw, both valued at Rs 1.62 lakh.  
According to the police, Pasha bought the kerosene from Ramaiah Shetty, who runs a fair price shop at Geddalahalli in Sanjaynagar, Rajashekhar, the owner of another such shop at MD Block in Malleswaram and Vasudev, who owns Lakshmi kerosene bunk at Malleswaram and had stored it at his house.

He would buy it for Rs 33 and sell for Rs 50, added the police.
