Youth Congress leader Mayankesh Shukla was sprayed with bullets by miscreants on Monday evening while he was on the way to his village in Pathkauli, police sources here said on Wednesday.
Shukla was rushed to the nearby Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Munshiganj from where he was referred to Lucknow. The Congress leader died on way to Lucknow, sources said.
The family of the deceased alleged that BSP legislator from Gauriganj Chandra Prakash Matiyari, his son and nephew were responsible for the killing, which they attributed to political rivalry.
Shukla, according to the victim’s family, was earlier associated with the BSP but later joined the Congress.
A case has been registered and the investigation is on, police said. No arrest has been made so far.
