Bail plea posted to May 11 for hearing

Advocate Ashok Bhat filed the bail plea in favour of Halappa at 11 am.  Judge Shivana Gowdar who took up the hearing asked the prosecution to file objection and adjourned the proceeding to May 11. Public prosecutor is expected to file objection on the same day.
In the bail plea, advocate has said that charges against Halappa were ill-motivated. The said incident though took place on November 26, 2009, but complaint has been lodged with DGP on May 5, 2010.

The protracted delay in lodging complaint proves that the charges are concocted and an attempt to tarnish Halappa’s image and damage his political career.  Ashok Bhat told Deccan Herald over telephone that the defence also has sought bail on the grounds that the charges against Halappa are designed to extract political mileage  in the Grama Panchayat election.

Meanwhile, CID Superintendent of Police Lokesh Kumar arrived to the city on Tuesday night. Inspection of complainant’s house continued till Tuesday late night. CID police took bed spreads and clothes from the room in the first floor where the incident is said to have took place. Police have informed that the entire house was videographed. The complainants were interrogated on Wednesday also which lasted for more than six hours. The statements of family members of Venkatesh Murthy also were recorded.
