Bangalore rural district has recorded the highest voter turn out with 88.37 per cent, while the neighbouring Bangalore urban district has registered the lowest voter turn out with 67.83 per cent.

According to the State Election Commission, of 1.21 crore voters in the first phase covering 15 districts, 97.19 lakh voters have exercised their franchise. The SEC, meanwhile, has ordered re-polling in 24 polling booths covering 11 districts, where the polling processes were disrupted by some miscreants.

The re-polling will be held on May 12, along with the second phase of polling. The State Election Commission has directed the election officials to apply indelible ink to the ring finger of the right hand to the voters, where re-polling will be held.

The ink is normally applied on the middle finger, the officials said. The second phase of polling will be held in Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Kodagu, Mandya, Chikmagalur, Dakshina Kannada, Belgaum, Bijapur, Bagalkot, Dharawad, Gadag, Haveri, Uttara Kannada and Udupi (Kundapur taluk) on May 12.
