Man commits horror on wife

The 21-year-old victim Savitri, a resident of Damodarpur locality of the coal city, is currently battling for her life at Patliputra Medical College and Hospital, Dhanbad.

The victim’s mother Kulmani Devi told the police that her daughter’s husband Sannimar Munda lost his cool when her daughter wished to visit her father’s place.

Accusing his wife of having an extra-marital affair at her father’s place, Munda first tied her hands and legs and then branded her private parts with a hot iron rod. He later sewed the parts with an iron wire and locked her up in a room. But Savitri managed to escape and reached her parents’ home on Thursday. Her parents went to the police and lodged a complaint against Munda.

“The next 48 hours are very crucial for Savitri. I have never seen such inhuman torture in my three-decade-long career. We are surprised how the woman survived,” Dr Pratibha Roy, who operated upon the victim, told reporters at Dhanbad.

Meanwhile, the Dhanbad police have lodged an FIR against the victim’s husband Sannimar Munda with the Sadar police station. The accused is absconding.
