Ex-minister, ex-mayor arrested for defying ban orders

The BJP leaders were trying to perform a blood donation camp on the auspicious occasion of Akhshaya Trutiya inside the premises of a half-constructed temple located on the bank of River Kathjodi near Abhinav Bidanasi which was earlier declared as prohibitory area.

Claiming that the land on which the shrine namely Bharat Mata Temple is coming up belongs to Irrigation department and is being used as a crematorium, the district administration had declared that the proposed temple is constructed unlawfully and had clamped the prohibitory orders on the temple basing on a Supreme Court guideline.

But Dey and his supporters under the banner Bharat Mata Pujan Committee had on Saturday obtained permission from the local police to organize a blood donation camp and a felicitation meeting near the temple on Sunday.

Accordingly, BJP activists had cleaned up the area and erected temporary structures for blood donation camp and meeting.
