Udupi all set for counting

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Additional Deputy Commissioner Prabhakar informed that the counting will begin at 8 am simultaneously in all the three taluk centres.

There are about 346 counting tables and 1,038 personnel recruited for the purpose in the district. “We intend for an early finish of the work and may expect the outcome by 6 pm,” he added.

Either the candidate or his agent will be allowed at the table during the counting process. A table is provided with one supervisor and two counting assistants. Each Panchayat will be taken at a time, he said.

The counting centres in Udupi, Karkala and Kundapur Taluks are T M A Pai English Medium School, Taluk Office and Bhandarkar’s College respectively.

There are as many as 151 counting tables in Udupi, 123 tables in Kundapur and 72 in Karkala taluk.  

There are as many as 146 Gram Panchayats in the district, of which polls were held for 143. There are as many as 2,323 positions and a total numbers of 4,995 candidates were in fray.
